Usyk’s Next Opponent to Emerge from Parker vs. Wardley Clash

Frank Warren, the founder of Queensberry Promotions, has verified that Oleksandr Usyk’s next opponent will be the victor of the upcoming match between Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley.

Parker and Wardley are scheduled to compete against each other at the O2 Arena on Saturday, promoted by Queensberry Promotions. During the event, the New Zealander will be defending his interim WBO heavyweight title.

The winner of this contest will be designated as the mandatory challenger for the WBO title, which is currently held by Usyk.

Speaking at Thursday’s press conference, Warren commented that this is currently the most compelling fight in the heavyweight division, with the winner set to face Usyk next.

“Presently, within the heavyweight division, this is the most significant fight,” Warren stated.

“Both competitors have elevated themselves. Neither was obligated to participate, nor did they need to arrange this fight. Joe Parker, as you know, is the interim champion.

“The WBO had already mandated that Usyk defend his title against him. However, he is injured. Joe had the option to wait, but instead, he expressed his desire to fight regardless.”

He further stated that both athletes are in optimal condition and that boxing enthusiasts can anticipate an extraordinary event that evening.

Warren also mentioned that Usyk has committed to facing the winner of this match, presenting a significant reward for both boxers.

“These athletes are exceptionally prepared, leaving no aspect unaddressed. They are in peak physical form. Spectators can anticipate an unforgettable night, and the prize for the victor is a match against Mr. Usyk. They will compete for the WBO title, as well as the other three belts,” he elaborated.

“Mr. Usyk has confirmed his intention to face the winner of Parker versus Wardley, stating that he will take on that fight next year. Thus, this is the prize they are competing for; it is all or nothing for the winner.”

Usyk previously achieved the status of undisputed heavyweight champion following his knockout victory against Daniel Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium on July 19.

The Ukrainian fighter has also made history as the first boxer to secure the undisputed champion title for the third time, having previously achieved this at cruiserweight (2018) and heavyweight (2024).
