US Seeks Tariff Resolution with Switzerland

The United States aims to achieve a tariff agreement with Switzerland, according to the Swiss president following a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington on Friday.

“We are pleased with the discussions we conducted,” President Karin Keller-Sutter stated to national broadcaster SRF, noting the US intends to hold “privileged negotiations” with a selection of 15 nations, including Switzerland.

Treasury Secretary Bessent has suggested that tariffs on China are unsustainable, signaling a US openness to de-escalation.

Keller-Sutter indicated that the subsequent phase would involve formulating a declaration of intent as quickly as feasible, preceding the commencement of negotiations. “US officials have conveyed a distinct aspiration to reach a resolution with Switzerland,” Keller-Sutter informed SRF.
