Ugarte Affirms Team’s Dedication to Amorim Amidst Challenges

Manchester United’s midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, has voiced his support for manager Ruben Amorim, expressing confidence in his ability to improve the team’s performance following a subpar Premier League season that saw them finish in 15th place.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Ugarte conveyed that the squad is highly motivated and unified under Amorim’s guidance, emphasizing their belief in the coach’s vision.

Amorim assumed his role at United in November of the previous year. However, he only secured seven victories in 27 Premier League games, which resulted in the club’s lowest league ranking to date.

The season concluded with further disappointment as United failed to secure a spot in the Champions League and suffered a significant defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

“We need to make improvements,” Ugarte stated.

The Uruguayan player, who also collaborated with Amorim at Sporting CP, added, “We are all incredibly motivated because we have faith in the coach and his objectives, which is extremely important.”

The Uruguayan midfielder mentioned that the team went through notable transformations last season, including a change in management and a complete change in tactics.

“Last year, we implemented several changes, including a new coach and a different formation,” he pointed out.

“When playing for United, accountability is key. Building connections can take time. I am already acquainted with the league and its rivals, which is advantageous.”

Manchester United is currently in the United States for their pre-season tour and is set to participate in two friendly matches, one against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday and another against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.

The Red Devils are scheduled to commence their 2025–26 Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 17.
