UFC’s Chang Supports Chinese Fighters to Display Skills at Home

SHANGHAI: The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) formally announced its return to China on Wednesday with a ‘Fight Night’ event. It is scheduled for August 23 at the Shanghai Indoor Arena.

Kevin Chang, UFC Senior Vice President and Head of Asia, underscored Shanghai’s importance to the organization. He mentioned that it functions as the UFC’s Asian headquarters and is vital for the sport’s expansion in the region.

“Shanghai is very important for UFC. It was the venue for our first event in mainland China in 2017, and it houses our UFC Performance Institute and Asian headquarters,” Kevin Chang stated.

He also acknowledged the considerable progress of Chinese competitors in the sport and voiced his support for them to exhibit their abilities domestically.

“Our Chinese athletes are demonstrating their strength in the UFC,” Chang added.

“We are excited to highlight their capabilities in the city where it all started.”

The Road to UFC Season 4 semi-finals are set for August 22. The winners will proceed to the season finale later this year, vying for a sought-after multi-fight contract with the UFC.
