UAF Seminar Highlights Path Toward a Drug‑Free Pakistan
The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) recently hosted a seminar titled “Drug‑Free Pakistan”, organized by its Department of Rural Sociology in collaboration with the Anti‑Narcotics Force (ANF). The event brought together academics, health experts, and law enforcement officials to discuss strategies for eliminating narcotics from society.
Renowned psychiatrist Dr. Imtiaz Dogar underscored the devastating impact of drug abuse, noting that it not only destroys individual lives but also damages family honor and social reputation. He stressed that combating this menace requires collective responsibility, with communities, institutions, and government agencies working hand in hand.
Chairperson of Sociology, Dr. Sadaf Mehmood, emphasized the importance of establishing proper treatment facilities for addicts. She explained that rehabilitation is essential for helping individuals escape the cycle of addiction and reintegrate as responsible citizens.
Representing the ANF, Assistant Director Muhammad Nawaz highlighted the force’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse. He assured participants that the ANF is committed to deploying all possible measures to eliminate narcotics from society, while also encouraging public cooperation in awareness campaigns.
Speakers collectively agreed that a safe and sustainable society can only be achieved by rooting out drugs through education, rehabilitation, and enforcement. The seminar concluded with a call for stronger partnerships between universities, healthcare providers, and law enforcement agencies to build a healthier future for Pakistan.
