Timberwolves Take Series Lead Over Lakers
MINNEAPOLIS: The Minnesota Timberwolves seized a 2-1 advantage in their first-round NBA Playoffs matchup, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 116-104 at the Target Center on Friday night.
The Timberwolves established control early, setting a strong tone. Despite a brief Lakers resurgence in the second quarter that saw them take a narrow lead, Minnesota regained command in the second half, demonstrating poise and determination to secure the victory.
Minnesota outscored Los Angeles 30-26 in the third quarter and 28-22 in the fourth, preventing the visitors from building any significant momentum.
Jaden McDaniels spearheaded the Timberwolves’ attack with an impressive 30-point performance, complemented by five rebounds and one assist.
Anthony Edwards continued his stellar postseason play, coming close to a triple-double with 29 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Julius Randle also made a significant contribution, adding 22 points and five rebounds.
Naz Reid provided a boost off the bench with 11 points, while Rudy Gobert solidified the defense with his imposing presence inside.
Although LeBron James delivered a remarkable performance, leading all scorers with 38 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, the Lakers were unable to match Minnesota’s depth and intensity in the latter half of the game.
With this triumph, the Timberwolves now lead the series 2-1 and will seek to capitalize on their advantage when they host Game 4 at the Target Center.
