David Achieves Record-Breaking Century Against West Indies

BASSETERRE: Australian batsman Tim David characterized his record-setting century against the West Indies in the third T20I as a dream realized. He also mentioned that he is not focused on achieving records.

Following the match, David said that he was unaware of reaching the milestone during his innings and did not anticipate scoring a century.

“I’m not driven by records, and I truly didn’t expect to have the opportunity to achieve a hundred,” David stated.

“It’s a childhood aspiration to score a century representing Australia, and that was definitely something I thought about.”

The 29-year-old admitted that achieving a T20I century was new for him, and he relied on the encouragement of teammate Mitch Owen during the chase.

“Considering my usual role, I’ve participated in numerous T20 matches without reaching a century, so it felt unusual. I’m grateful for Mitch Owen’s support; his recent experience was invaluable.”

David gave credit to his preparation and mental fortitude for his achievement, highlighting timing as more important than raw power.

“I dedicate considerable practice to it, and the effort over the last six months has proven fruitful. Success relies on effective shot selection and avoiding excessive force.
