Tanvir Ahmed Criticizes Selectors for Overlooking Sahibzada Farhan
Former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has voiced his disapproval of the national selectors for consistently ignoring Sahibzada Farhan, despite his strong showings in domestic cricket and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Speaking on his online platform, Ahmed lauded Farhan’s current form, noting, “His cricket is exceptional — truly impressive. He has achieved three centuries in domestic matches, including a triple century, in addition to his initial PSL century. His consistency is noteworthy, and he is in top form.”
Ahmed took aim at the national selectors, suggesting they unfairly brand players as difficult to justify leaving them out.
“If a player isn’t to your liking, that’s acceptable, but avoid creating false narratives — such as claiming he has behavioral issues, is tardy for practice, or doesn’t train adequately,” he stated.
“This is a persistent issue within our cricketing system. When selectors find it hard to omit a player based on performance, they resort to questioning his character.”
The former pacer encouraged selectors to put aside any personal feelings and provide Farhan with a fair opportunity.
“Even with personal reservations, you should accept the situation. Include him in the national squad and allow him to prove his capabilities,” he contended.
“Farhan is thriving in the domestic arena — his starts are solid, and he delivers under pressure.”
Ahmed also directed criticism towards Shadab Khan, accusing him of misleading supporters by showcasing his all-round skills exclusively in league cricket.
The former cricketer conveyed his disappointment with Shadab’s repeated failures at the international level.
“Shadab deceives everyone by batting at No. 4 in the PSL, hitting a few sixes, and securing a couple of wickets,” he commented.
“He presents himself as a leading spin-bowling all-rounder globally, yet he continually underperforms and is exposed in international matches.
“His achievements in franchise leagues don’t translate to success when representing Pakistan. His PSL performances do not lead to national success,” he concluded. Farhan has accumulated 184 runs in three PSL games, including one century.
