Sutherland Overtakes Iqbal in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
Australia’s Annabel Sutherland has ascended to the top of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s T20I bowling rankings, displacing Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, who now shares the second position.
Iqbal, who achieved the number one ranking in May, experienced a less effective series against Ireland earlier in the month, securing only three wickets across three matches.
This dip in performance has caused her to drop to joint-second place, tied with India’s Deepti Sharma, both holding 732 rating points.
Sutherland, despite not participating in the T20I format since March, maintained her 736 rating points, enabling her to claim the top spot.
Notably, this was Iqbal’s second time holding the top T20I bowler ranking; she previously held the position briefly during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup last year.
Meanwhile, Orla Prendergast of Ireland, instrumental in her team’s 2-1 series victory against Pakistan, has reached new career heights in both batting and all-rounder rankings.
Prendergast amassed 144 runs in three matches and took four wickets, earning her the Player of the Series award.
These efforts propelled her eight places to 19th in the batting rankings and to sixth in the all-rounder rankings, marking personal bests in both categories.
Her teammates Laura Delany and Rebecca Stokell also advanced, reaching joint 50th and 77th, respectively, in the batting rankings.
Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali (32nd), who scored a century in the third T20I, and skipper Fatima Sana (59th) have also made significant progress in the rankings.
