Texas Super Kings Dominate Seattle Orcas in MLC 2025

OAKLAND: Texas Super Kings continued their winning streak in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, securing their third successive victory by defeating Seattle Orcas by a substantial 93-run margin at the Oakland Coliseum on Monday.

Opting to bat first, the Super Kings achieved a total of 153-6 in their 20 overs. Saiteja Mukkamalla led the scoring with a composed 30 runs from 23 deliveries.

The innings started poorly, with the Super Kings losing the important wickets of Devon Conway (13) and captain Faf du Plessis (7 off 12) early in the powerplay, leaving them at 26-2 in 5.1 overs.

Daryl Mitchell (25 off 26) and Marcus Stoinis (28 off 12) attempted to stabilize the innings but were dismissed by Harmeet Singh and Waqar Salamkheil respectively, failing to capitalize on their starts.

Late contributions from Milind Kumar (18*) and Shubham Ranjane (15*) added crucial runs, helping the team reach a defendable score.

In response, the Orcas struggled significantly, being bowled out for just 60 runs in 13.5 overs. Only Aaron Jones and Jasdeep Singh managed to reach double figures, scoring 17 and 12 runs respectively.

Former Pakistan U19 bowler Zia-ul-Haq was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3/16 in his three overs. He made an immediate impact by dismissing the dangerous David Warner for nine runs in his opening over.

Zia then took the vital wickets of captain Heinrich Klaasen for a golden duck and all-rounder Sikandar Raza for only four runs.

Nandre Burger and Noor Ahmad also bowled impressively, each taking three wickets in their allotted four overs to complete the rout.

With this commanding victory, Texas Super Kings have risen to second place in the points table, boasting three wins from three matches, accumulating six points and a strong net run rate of 2.550. Their next match is against San Francisco Unicorns on June 20 in Dallas.
