Sri Lankan Stocks Close Slightly Down Amid Sectoral Shifts
Sri Lankan equities concluded trading on a slightly negative note Wednesday, as declines in the information technology and consumer staples sectors offset gains in the materials and industrials sectors.
The CSE All-Share index experienced a decrease of 0.08%, settling at 15,543.99 points.
Harischandra Mills and Lion Brewery led the decliners in terms of index points, falling by 400 points and 62 points, respectively.
The day’s trading volume on the index increased to 38.48 million shares, compared to the prior session’s 36.58 million shares.
Market Turnover
The turnover in the equity market increased to 1.1 billion Sri Lankan rupees, up from 991.44 million Sri Lankan rupees in the previous session, according to data from the exchange.
Investment Flows
Exchange data indicated that foreign investors were net sellers, divesting stocks valued at 80.26 million Sri Lankan rupees. Meanwhile, domestic investors emerged as net buyers, acquiring shares totaling 1.05 billion Sri Lankan rupees.
