PIA to Restart UK Flight Operations in August

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will recommence its flight services to the United Kingdom starting in mid-August, according to the national carrier’s spokesperson during a recent television appearance.

Speaking on the program “News Insight with Amir Zia,” PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez stated that the airline intends to reinstate direct flights connecting Islamabad and Lahore with Manchester and Birmingham. Additionally, flights originating from Karachi will serve London.

“The airplanes are prepared, although we are experiencing a deficit of four to five aircraft,” Hafeez noted, further explaining that fully restoring services on established routes presents a considerable logistical hurdle.

“Nevertheless, the airline is dedicated to making every feasible effort to reestablish its vital international routes.”

This development follows the authorization granted by British aviation authorities for Pakistani airlines to operate within UK airspace. This marks a significant advancement following a sustained suspension of direct flights because of regulatory concerns.

Hafeez emphasized that the UK remains PIA’s most important European route, and its restoration is anticipated to substantially improve the airline’s financial status.

The resumption of flights to the UK is a component of PIA’s wider strategy aimed at reclaiming international market presence and rebuilding passenger confidence in its services.
