Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives in Karachi
In another unfortunate traffic incident, three individuals, including a woman, lost their lives when a bus collided with two motorcycles at the Drigh Road underpass in Karachi on Monday, as confirmed by law enforcement.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred when a speeding bus struck the motorcycles inside the underpass, resulting in the immediate deaths of three people and critical injuries to another woman.
The bus driver initially fled the scene but was subsequently apprehended near the Natha Khan bridge. The vehicle involved has been impounded, according to police officials.
This recent series of road accidents has heightened concerns regarding traffic management and the regulation of heavy vehicles within Karachi.
The city has experienced a significant surge in deadly incidents involving buses, trucks, and dump trucks throughout the current year.
These recurring tragedies have sparked public anger, often leading to spontaneous demonstrations and acts of arson.
Earlier in the month, at least seven dumper trucks were set on fire following an incident on Rashid Minhas Road where two siblings were fatally struck by one of these vehicles.
According to a police report issued this month, over 500 people were killed in traffic-related accidents in 2025, with 60 of these fatalities involving trucks.
Expanding on accident data within the city, police noted that 25 people have died in bus-related accidents this year, 11 in minibus accidents, six in coach accidents, and 48 in accidents involving trailers.
Additionally, 20 deaths occurred in accidents involving dumpers, 44 in water tankers, and six in oil tanker accidents.
Police also stated that van collisions resulted in 15 fatalities, jeep accidents in five, and car collisions in 58. Among all the deceased, 51 were women.
