PM Salutes Police on Police Martyrs’ Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the police force on Monday for their commitment to maintaining public order and their extensive efforts in the fight against terrorism, which have disrupted adversaries aiming to destabilize the nation.

In his address commemorating Police Martyrs’ Day, the Prime Minister stated, “Today, we honor the courageous police officers and personnel who tirelessly perform their duties in all conditions, sacrificing time with their families to uphold law and order throughout the country. We also pay respects to the families of those officers who gave their lives for our collective security.”

He noted that over 8,000 police officers and personnel have died in the line of duty during the war against terrorism. He emphasized that the police, serving as a primary defense, have shielded countless children from becoming orphans.

The Prime Minister highlighted the recent martyrdom of five Elite Force soldiers during an operation against criminals in Rahim Yar Khan, stating, “These, along with thousands of other police martyrs, are a source of national pride.”

He further remarked, “The Pakistan Police have showcased their expertise internationally, evidenced by the accolades received at the recent World Police Summit 2025. The integration of advanced technology into policing to promote public safety and effectively prevent crime is a promising step that will enhance citizen security.”

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the critical role of the police in establishing anti-terrorism units across all provinces and their collaborative efforts with the Pakistan Army and Rangers during emergencies and natural disasters. This cooperation, he noted, has positively influenced public perception and significantly improved police performance.

He reiterated that the police have conducted numerous operations to thwart attempts to sow discord and insecurity in Pakistan. He concluded, “Every officer dedicated to safeguarding the nation, from the coasts of Gwadar to the heights of Gilgit-Baltistan, fills me and the entire nation with pride.”
