Shadab Khan Ruled Out of PSL Match Against Quetta Gladiators
LAHORE: Islamabad United has suffered a significant blow as their captain, Shadab Khan, will miss the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 game against Quetta Gladiators, which is set to take place at Gaddafi Stadium this Saturday.
According to a formal announcement from the franchise, Shadab felt discomfort in his groin area while batting during the previous night’s match against Peshawar Zalmi.
Following the game, the team’s medical personnel conducted a precautionary scan to determine the severity of the injury.
The franchise mentioned that they are still awaiting the scan results, and further updates regarding Shadab’s condition will be provided upon receipt.
Currently, he has been rested from the match as a precautionary measure.
Salman Ali Agha is expected to take over the captaincy in Shadab Khan’s absence.
“Shadab Khan experienced pain while batting; therefore, we have decided to be cautious and had him scanned. He will not be included in today’s lineup against Quetta,” stated a spokesperson for Islamabad United.
Shadab’s absence is a substantial setback for the team, considering his role as a leading all-rounder and captain. His leadership skills and contributions with both batting and bowling have been vital throughout the competition.
Islamabad United will now need to adjust their game plan and revise their playing XI before the crucial match.
For context, the current champions hold the top position in the PSL 10 standings with five wins out of seven games and must secure a victory in the upcoming game to maintain their lead.
Islamabad United Squad for Quetta Gladiators:
Imad Wasim, Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, Naseem Shah, Hunain Shah, Haider Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Azam Khan, Rumman Raees, Salman Irshad, Saad Masood, Colin Munro, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Andries Gous, Ben Dwarshuis and Riley Meredith.
