Ryan Gosling to Star in ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’

Ryan Gosling is set to headline the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film, officially titled ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’.

The announcement was made by Lucasfilm’s president, Kathleen Kennedy, and chief creative officer, Dave Filoni, at the annual Star Wars Celebration held in Tokyo, Japan, this past Friday.

Gosling shared his enthusiasm for the project at the event, stating, “The script is exceptionally well-written, featuring a compelling narrative and innovative characters.”

The ‘Barbie’ actor further added, “It’s brimming with heart and adventure, and Shawn is unequivocally the perfect director for this specific story.”

“She still has them, of course,” Gosling joked, referring to his childhood ‘Star Wars’ memorabilia. “She likely believes fans will appreciate it, though I suspect it’s more to validate years of collecting.”

He also remarked, “As evidenced by the photo, I was likely dreaming of ‘Star Wars’ even before seeing the movie. It probably shaped my concept of what film could be.”

Production for this standalone ‘Star Wars’ adventure is scheduled to commence this fall. ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ is slated for theatrical release on May 28, 2027, according to reports.
