Reigns and Uso Conquer Breakker and Reed in SummerSlam Opener

EAST RUTHERFORD: WWE SummerSlam 2025 commenced with a thrilling tag team match at MetLife Stadium, where Roman Reigns and Jey Uso emerged victorious against the formidable pairing of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

The showdown, promoted as a quest for personal retribution, followed a fierce assault on Raw. Breakker and Reed, representing Paul Heyman, had previously left Reigns and Uso severely beaten.

The ambush included several impactful spears by Breakker. Reed further escalated tensions by taking Reigns’ sneakers and wearing them as an Ula Fala during his SummerSlam entrance.

Despite Breakker and Reed’s initial control, the momentum shifted when Reigns executed a powerful spear, sending Breakker through the ringside barricade.

Reigns and Uso then executed their signature 1D maneuver, displaying the synergy that once established them as a dominant tag team.

A critical moment occurred when Reigns absorbed a spear intended for Uso, enabling his cousin to regain composure.

Jey then delivered the Uso Splash on Reed, securing the pinfall and the win, much to the delight of the audience.

The match featured several memorable highlights, including a risky suicide dive from Reed, a top-rope avalanche bulldog by Breakker, and a Superman Punch–1D combination from Reigns and Uso.

The high-energy contest had the MetLife Stadium crowd chanting “This is awesome!” throughout.

The defeat for Breakker and Reed was somewhat anticipated. Given Reigns’ infrequent losses and Uso’s current popularity, their victory was widely expected.

Nonetheless, Breakker is slated to receive a significant push as a singles competitor in light of Seth Rollins’ current injury-related absence. Reed, on the other hand, may continue in his role to bolster Breakker’s position.
