Ramiz Raja Hails Sikandar Raza’s Dedication to Lahore Qalandars
LAHORE: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja commended Sikandar Raza’s pivotal performance and steadfast commitment, which were instrumental in Lahore Qalandars’ PSL 10 victory. Raja acknowledged Raza’s efforts in the final match.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz praised Raza’s exceptional commitment, mentioning the Zimbabwean all-rounder altered his travel plans to ensure his participation in the match.
“Sikandar’s dedication is truly admirable. He overcame obstacles to reach Pakistan, played, and guided his team to victory,” Ramiz stated.
The former PCB chairman noted that while the triumph was a collective effort, Raza’s performance stood out significantly.
“Sikandar Raza delivered a phenomenal innings in the final. While every player contributed, his performance provided the winning impetus. Perera also made a valuable contribution,” he added.
Ramiz shared that Raza arrived in Lahore mere hours before the final.
“Lahore Qalandars prepared two lists—one featuring Sikandar Raza and another with Shakib Al Hasan, as a contingency,” he revealed.
“He arrived in Lahore around 6 PM on the day of the final, had a minimal warm-up, and immediately took to the field,” Ramiz mentioned.
Ramiz emphasized that Raza’s dedication shows his passion for cricket and loyalty to Lahore Qalandars.
“This showcases incredible dedication. It reflects Sikandar’s affection for the game and the franchise. Lahore Qalandars, in turn, value their players, a fact that is evident,” he observed.
Looking ahead to the next PSL season, Ramiz hinted at the potential inclusion of two new teams. He stressed the significance of assessing talent depth and strategic planning to facilitate the league’s expansion.
“The upcoming season promises to be even more captivating with the anticipated addition of two new teams. However, we must evaluate our talent pool and strategies to support this expansion. It will be an exciting model,” he concluded.
