PTCL Verifies Pensioners’ Data Following Supreme Court Order
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced on Wednesday that it is currently validating the data of its pensioners, in accordance with the directives issued by the Supreme Court.
The prominent telecom operator communicated this update in a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) earlier today.
On July 11, a three-judge panel, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and including Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Ayesha A Malik, delivered its verdict regarding the pensions of former PTCL employees.
The court determined that employees who transitioned from Telegraph and Telephone to Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation and subsequently to PTCL maintained their entitlement to pension benefits. Furthermore, these benefits would continue to evolve dynamically.
PTCL stated that once the verification process concludes, the data will be provided to the Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust for calculating PTCL’s necessary contribution.
“This process is intricate and requires considerable time.
The notification to the PSX also mentioned that upon the completion of records and pertinent data, the corresponding financial impact will be appropriately reflected in the company’s financial statements.
