PSL to Observe Childhood Cancer Awareness Day

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on May 3 during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

The initiative will feature involvement from players, match officials, and commentators to promote awareness of childhood cancer and emphasize the significance of early detection and support for young individuals battling the disease.

PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer affirmed the league’s dedication to social causes, stating, “As part of HBL PSL’s corporate social responsibility, we are observing Childhood Cancer Awareness on 3 May.

This demonstrates our commitment to utilizing cricket’s reach to aid in raising awareness regarding health challenges impacting numerous lives nationwide.

“We appreciate the continued support from teams, players, commentators, fans, and media colleagues in advancing these awareness initiatives through HBL PSL,” he added.

The initiative will be highlighted during the PSL 10 game between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United, scheduled for Saturday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with an 8 PM start time.

In a display of solidarity, match officials and commentators present at the venue will don gold ribbons, a symbol recognized internationally for signifying childhood cancer awareness.

Players from both teams will also enter the field wearing golden caps and gold ribbons as a sign of backing for the cause.

Adding a symbolic element to the match, the stumps utilized during the game will showcase unique gold branding.

As a heartwarming gesture, three young cancer patients will be invited to the stadium, where they will receive signed jerseys from both the Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United teams.

Furthermore, awareness messages focusing on childhood cancer will be prominently displayed on digital screens throughout the stadium to educate and engage spectators.
