Foiled Attack on Police Training Center in Dera Ismail Khan

In Dera Ismail Khan on Friday night, an assault on a police training facility was thwarted, resulting in the deaths of at least three militants, one of whom was a suicide bomber. Officers guarding the premises successfully defended against the attackers.

Law enforcement officials stated that the heavily armed assailants, whose exact number is still under investigation, initiated an explosion, believed to be a suicide bombing, before storming the building. This led to a fierce exchange of gunfire with the officers stationed inside.

According to a senior police representative, the ensuing confrontation turned in favor of the security forces, as the militants were unable to sustain their assault and were ultimately neutralized.

Following the audacious terrorist act, significant reinforcements promptly arrived and secured the training center, ensuring there were no further threats.

Authorities reported that a minimum of five police officers suffered injuries from gunfire and were immediately transported to a medical facility. They confirmed that all wounded officers are in stable condition.

Medical personnel at the District Headquarters Hospital verified that seven bodies had been received. They also noted that eleven individuals were undergoing medical care, with one in critical condition.

Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan strongly denounced the offensive, asserting that terrorists aim to instigate turmoil and impede the nation’s advancement, but their malevolent intentions will be defeated.

Khan lauded the police force for preventing the schemes of subversive elements and emphasized the sacrifices made by security personnel.

The acting Senate chair affirmed that the sacrifices of the valiant protectors will not be forgotten, declaring that “Pakistan’s determination against terrorism remains steadfast, and the nation stands united.”
