NCCIA Pursues Legal Action Against Individuals in Online Hate Campaign

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has commenced legal proceedings against five individuals implicated in orchestrating an online hate campaign targeting Pakistan’s state institutions. This action follows a recent escalation in tensions between Pakistan and India, a spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.

According to the NCCIA representative, the individuals have been formally named in the first information reports (FIRs) filed under cybercrime legislation. The accusations include disseminating “false and inflammatory content” across social media platforms amidst the recent cross-border friction.

The spokesperson stated that the accused parties initiated a synchronized disinformation campaign directed against the state, with a particular focus on the armed forces and key national government figures.

“The designated individuals have been actively engaged in the distribution of deceptive propaganda aimed at undermining Pakistan’s state institutions,” the agency representative clarified.

The FIRs detail that the suspects consistently circulated fabricated and misleading information, which the NCCIA asserts was intended to incite animosity towards the military and other vital institutions.

“This material exacerbated unrest, anxiety, and skepticism among the populace regarding the state,” the FIRs indicated.

Furthermore, the distributed content was designed to sow apprehension and uncertainty among citizens, with prosecutors contending that the operation sought to erode public trust in the government. The NCCIA spokesperson noted that the investigative body had initiated legal measures against the suspects subsequent to the filing of the FIRs.
