Government Reaffirms Support for CPSP’s Role in Medical Training
On March 12, 2026, Federal Minister of Health Syed Mustafa Kamal met with a high-level delegation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in Islamabad. The meeting underscored CPSP’s pivotal role in advancing postgraduate medical education and producing highly skilled specialist doctors.
The delegation, led by CPSP President Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, included senior officials such as Professor Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, Major General Professor Mazhar Ishaq, Professor Dr. Javed Kiani, and Legal Advisor Dr. Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah. They presented a detailed overview of CPSP’s national and international services, training programs, and professional achievements.
Professor Gondal highlighted CPSP’s collaborations with Middle Eastern countries including Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, as well as its partnership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. These initiatives, he explained, have expanded opportunities for Pakistani doctors to showcase their expertise globally.
Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal praised CPSP as a distinguished institution that has elevated Pakistan’s reputation in medical education. He emphasized that Pakistani doctors trained through CPSP are serving as ambassadors worldwide, enhancing the country’s image through their skill, dedication, and professional integrity.
He further noted that CPSP fellowships are recognized internationally, with graduates making significant contributions both at home and abroad. The minister assured continued government support for CPSP’s efforts to improve medical education, research, and specialized training, stressing that such initiatives are vital for strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare system.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to deepen collaboration between the Ministry of Health and CPSP, ensuring that Pakistan remains at the forefront of medical education and healthcare excellence.
