PIA Inaugurates Direct Flights from Lahore to Baku

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) initiated direct flight operations from Lahore to Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday. This move underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing international links and supporting the expansion of tourism.

The inaugural flight signifies the launch of a fresh route, symbolizing a crucial step in the national carrier’s strategy to broaden its international footprint and improve accessibility between Pakistan and Central Asia, according to a declaration by the airline.

The statement further noted that this undertaking highlights the strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with the goal of stimulating tourism, commerce, and interpersonal connections.

A special inaugural ceremony took place at the International Departure Lounge of Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore to commemorate the event.

The ceremony was presided over by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, also in attendance.

During the launching ceremony, Asif commented that the positive outcomes of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties with various nations are becoming apparent.

He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s economy is progressing after overcoming challenging periods.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the launch of PIA’s direct flights from Lahore to Baku. He remarked in a statement that the commencement of these flights would be beneficial for the tourism industry.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the national airline will soon introduce direct flights to additional friendly countries.

Describing this development as a noteworthy diplomatic achievement for Pakistan, he emphasized that Azerbaijan is a close ally of Pakistan in the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to promoting collaboration with Azerbaijan in the tourism sector and other areas.
