ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal held a pivotal meeting with the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), alongside DRAP’s CEO and senior officials, to spearhead critical reforms in the pharmaceutical sector.

The focus was on accelerating the implementation of 2D barcodes to combat counterfeit drugs and safeguard public health. The minister emphasized urgent action and urged swift adoption of the system.

Conversations also turned toward shaping a strategic roadmap for local vaccine production, aiming to bolster self-reliance, reduce dependency on imports, and enhance healthcare security. Kamal reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to protecting public health and expanding pharmaceutical exports.

The PPMA delegation applauded recent DRAP reforms, especially the digitization of medical device regulation, highlighting its positive impact on the ease of doing business.
