South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been barred from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for a year by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This decision follows Bosch’s breach of contract when he withdrew from the tournament.
Bosch, aged 30, was selected by Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL player auction in January. However, he later chose to participate in another league instead.
In addition to the ban, the PCB has imposed an undisclosed financial penalty on Bosch. The board has not revealed the amount of the penalty, with a source indicating it is due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed with the cricketer.
Bosch issued a statement through the PCB, expressing regret for his decision and taking “full responsibility” for his actions.
“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community,” Bosch stated.
The PCB has clarified that while Bosch is ineligible for next year’s PSL, it remains unspecified whether the ban extends to other leagues.
The PSL, recognized as Pakistan’s leading Twenty20 tournament, has gained prominence in recent years, drawing in international players.
Bosch, who has competed in various T20 leagues globally, expressed his hope to return to the PSL in the future.
“This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience,” he added.
The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to commence in Rawalpindi on Friday, featuring an opening match between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
