Pakistan Rowing Team Achieves Historic Victory at Asian Championship

The Pakistani rowing team etched their name in history at the Asian indoor rowing championship held in Pattaya, Thailand, from May 26 to 31. The team clinched an impressive total of 14 medals, which included 10 gold medals, securing third place overall in the prestigious continental competition.

The Pakistani contingent demonstrated dominance across diverse categories, delivering outstanding performances in the masters, Under-23, and open divisions.

Featuring participants from over 20 Asian nations, the championship witnessed Pakistan outshining established rowing giants.

Asad Ali spearheaded the medal charge, securing an impressive collection of five gold medals. Maqbool Ali and Wali Khan each contributed significantly, claiming two gold medals apiece.

Additional notable performances included Abdul Jabbar, who secured one gold and one silver medal, Muhammad Shahzad, who also earned one gold and one silver medal, and Tayyab Iftikhar, who secured one silver and one bronze medal.

Pakistan’s final count of 10 gold, three silver, and one bronze medals represents the nation’s most remarkable showing in the tournament to date, highlighting the team’s substantial advancement in indoor rowing.
