Pakistan Qualifies for ICC Women’s World Cup with Victory Over Thailand

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team maintained its undefeated streak at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, securing a spot in the main event later this year with a decisive 87-run win against Thailand.

Captain Fatima Sana’s choice to bat first proved effective as the team achieved a total of 205/6 in their 50 overs.

Key Performances
  • Sidra Amin: Scored 80 runs off 105 balls, including nine boundaries.
  • Fatima Sana: Remained unbeaten with 62 runs from 59 deliveries, hitting six fours and one six.

The pair stabilized the innings after a shaky start at 85/4, building a significant 97-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

For Thailand, Thipatcha Putthawong claimed two wickets, with Onnicha Kamchomphu and Nattaya Boochatham each taking one.

In response, Thailand’s batting lineup struggled, getting all out for just 118 runs in 34.4 overs. This outcome ensured Pakistan’s qualification for the World Cup with one match remaining.

Nannapat Koncharoenkai was the highest scorer for Thailand with 19 runs. Other contributions came from Nattaya Boochatham (16), Suwanan Khiaoto (15), Natthakan Chantham (13), Naruemol Chaiwai (12), and Thipatcha Putthawong (10).

Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Sana, Rameen Shamim, and Nashra Sandhu, each taking three wickets, while Sadia Iqbal took one.

This win propelled Pakistan to the top of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier standings, overtaking Bangladesh, who were defeated by West Indies by three wickets earlier in the day.

Pakistan is scheduled to play against Bangladesh on Saturday.
