Pakistan to Clash with Sri Lanka in Asian Tennis Federation Final

The Pakistan tennis team has secured a spot in the final of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) 12 & under team competition. Their place was confirmed on Thursday with a decisive 2-0 victory against India in the semi-finals.

The young Pakistani team showcased exceptional form throughout the competition, achieving a notable triumph over India in the semi-final round.

Earlier, during the group stage, the team recorded comprehensive 3-0 victories against Maldives, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

The semi-final match against India was particularly noteworthy. Rashid Ali commenced with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Thanush Shekar, followed by Muhammad Shayan Afridi, who sealed Pakistan’s place in the final against Sri Lanka with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win against Khatri Nayan.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, the President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), extended his congratulations to the team for their remarkable accomplishment.

“Defeating our rivals India in the semi-final is a moment of pride for Pakistan. We are hopeful to maintain this momentum and secure the championship against Sri Lanka,” stated Aisam.

Qureshi also commented on Pakistan’s recent junior tennis performance, recalling the narrow defeat to India in the 16 & Under Davis Cup Juniors match held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

“Today, our 12 & Under team displayed great dominance and made the nation proud by progressing to the final,” he added.

Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail, the Secretary-General of the PTF, also lauded the team’s united efforts.

“The Pakistan team’s performance has been truly exceptional. Congratulations to the players and the support staff. We extend our best wishes to the team in the final,” he remarked.

Pakistan is now set to compete against Sri Lanka in the final, with the host nation seeking to claim the championship title on their home ground this Friday.
