Shakeel Highlights England Tour as Opportunity for Young Talent

BECKENHAM: Pakistan Shaheens’ leader, Saud Shakeel, voiced optimism regarding his team’s readiness for their upcoming tour of England, set to commence on Tuesday.

Speaking with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Digital ahead of the tour, Saud mentioned that the squad had sufficient chances to sharpen their abilities despite some weather disruptions.

“Adapting to English conditions takes a few days. We are progressing well with the preparation opportunities we had. Given that we’re starting with one-day matches, our training has focused on the white ball,” Shakeel stated.

“We faced some weather-related setbacks with rain on a couple of days. However, we made the most of the available opportunities,” he added.

The Test player also described the approaching tour as a valuable chance for young players to impress selectors through strong performances.

“They also possess a strong bench of players they are considering for the England team, mirroring our situation. I anticipate a competitive series,” Shakeel remarked.

“We have exceptionally talented young players, all with the chance to perform well and catch the selectors’ eyes.

“Performing on tours like this boosts confidence significantly, which is beneficial for international cricket. It’s positive, and more of these tours should be arranged.”
