Umar Amin’s Half-Century Propels Pakistan Champions in WCL 2025
LEICESTER: Pakistan Champions achieved a total of 198-5 in their 20 overs against South Africa Champions at Grace Road on Friday during their World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match. Umar Amin’s half-century, a score of 58 runs from 42 balls, was the key to their performance, featuring four fours and three sixes.
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan Champions started steadily, with both opening batsmen hitting boundaries to build early momentum.
The first dismissal occurred when Sharjeel Khan was removed for a rapid 19 runs off 11 deliveries, including three fours and a six. Hardus Viljoen took the wicket, leaving Pakistan at 27-1 in 2.3 overs.
Duanne Olivier claimed his first wicket in the final over of the powerplay, dismissing Kamran Akmal for 17 runs from 11 balls, reducing Pakistan to 55-2.
The third blow came when captain Mohammad Hafeez was dismissed, scoring only eight runs from seven balls, with the score at 76-3 in 8.1 overs.
Shoaib Malik and Umar Amin then stabilized the innings with a crucial 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket, maintaining a steady scoring rate with smart shots and well-placed boundaries.
Umar Amin reached his half-century, leading the innings with 58 runs off 42 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes.
The partnership ended in the 17th over when Umar Amin was dismissed, leaving Pakistan at 155-4 in 16.4 overs.
Asif Ali provided late momentum, hitting 23 runs off just 11 balls, including two sixes and two fours. He scored 20 runs off Chris Morris’s over before being dismissed in the final over at 187-5.
Aamer Yamin added the finishing touches, hitting consecutive boundaries and taking a single off the last ball, remaining unbeaten on 11.
Shoaib Malik also remained not out with a score of 46 runs from 34 balls, helping Pakistan reach a competitive total to challenge the South African side.
