Pakistan Announces Squad for South Africa Test Series
Pakistan has revealed its team for the forthcoming two-match Test series at home against South Africa. The series is scheduled to commence on October 12 in Lahore.
Shan Masood will remain the team’s captain. The squad includes three emerging players who have not yet played at the international level: Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir.
This tour is a significant occasion, representing the return of international cricket to Faisalabad after a break of 17 years.
It will also mark the beginning of Pakistan’s journey in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, where they will face the current champions, South Africa.
The first Test match will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from October 12 to 16. Subsequently, the second Test will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.
This series marks South Africa’s first Test appearance in Pakistan since January 2021, when they were defeated 2-0 by the home side.
Following the Test matches, the two teams will compete in a series of three T20 International (T20I) matches from October 28 to November 1. The first match will be hosted in Rawalpindi, with the remaining two matches held at Gaddafi Stadium.
The tour will conclude with a three-match ODI series, planned from November 4 to 8, with all matches to be played at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
