CAVA Men’s Nations League Relocated to Uzbekistan
KARACHI: The Central Asia Volleyball Association (CAVA) has decided to move its Men’s Nations League to Uzbekistan. This adjustment comes after several nations expressed reservations about traveling to Pakistan, citing the existing tensions between Pakistan and India, officials verified on Thursday.
Originally, Islamabad was slated to host the tournament from May 29 to June 4. However, CAVA opted to change the venue while maintaining the scheduled dates due to concerns voiced by numerous participating teams.
The resolution was reached during CAVA’s Annual General Meeting held on April 25 in Nepal. Member countries pointed to the uneasy relations between Pakistan and India as the key factor influencing their reluctance to participate.
A CAVA official stated, “The tournament will be conducted in Uzbekistan, but the dates will remain unchanged.”
Ch Mohammad Yaqub, a senior figure within the Pakistan Volleyball Federation, corroborated this development.
“Indeed, this modification occurred because certain countries declined participation, referencing the security landscape between Pakistan and India,” he confirmed.
The competition will now include teams representing Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and India.
