ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal has urged the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and the pharmaceutical industry to develop a joint strategy for local vaccine manufacturing.

Speaking to a delegation of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Kamal highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering indigenous vaccine production. He stressed that this initiative would reduce reliance on costly imports, strengthen healthcare security, and save valuable foreign exchange.

“The government is determined to promote local vaccine production, which will not only bolster public health security but also enhance our capacity to respond effectively to future health challenges,” the minister said.

The meeting, attended by DRAP’s CEO and senior officials, also discussed strategies to increase medicine exports and expand the global footprint of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector.
