Training Camp Commences for Pakistan’s White-Ball Squad Ahead of South Africa Series
LAHORE: The Pakistan white-ball cricket team is preparing to gather in Lahore for a training camp, according to sources. This camp is in anticipation of their upcoming series against South Africa, which includes three ODIs and three T20I matches scheduled later this month.
Players are anticipated to arrive at the camp within the next day or two.
Head Coach Mike Hesson is slated to lead the camp, with a focus on refining the team’s skills specifically tailored for white-ball cricket. The training program is expected to include notable players such as Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah.
It has been confirmed that players participating in the white-ball camp will not be available for selection in the second phase of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26.
Prior to the T20 and ODI series, slight adjustments to the Pakistan squad are anticipated. Indications suggest that Hussain Talat and Khushdil Shah may be omitted, while Irfan Niazi is in consideration for a potential recall to the team.
The South African team is currently touring Pakistan, with the first Test match underway at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, scheduled to continue until next Thursday.
The second Test match is set to take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.
Historically, South Africa holds a dominant record in Test matches against Pakistan, having won 17 out of 30 encounters. Pakistan has secured victory in six matches, while seven matches have concluded in draws.
Following the conclusion of the red-ball series, both teams will compete in three T20I matches from October 28 to November 1. The opening T20I is scheduled in Rawalpindi, with the subsequent two matches to be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The tour will conclude with a three-match ODI series from November 4 to 8 at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
