Pakistan Champions Gear Up for World Championship of Legends 2025
Pakistan Champions are set to commence their campaign against England Champions on July 18 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
Former Pakistan spinner Arshad Khan will continue as the head coach for Pakistan Champions as they prepare for the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL), which is scheduled to begin later this month in Birmingham.
The team’s social media channels confirmed the appointment with the message: “He guided us to the final in Season 1. Arshad Khan is back as Head Coach, and the mission moves forward.”
The squad, which finished as runners-up in the inaugural WCL season, has been reinforced with the addition of former all-rounder Imad Wasim and fast bowler Rumman Raees.
In a notable change, Mohammad Hafeez, the former Pakistan captain, has taken over as the team’s captain, succeeding Younis Khan.
Following a successful debut season last year, the WCL T20 League is returning for its second edition this July–August.
The competition will feature veteran players representing six cricketing nations: India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, England, and the West Indies.
Pakistan Champions enjoyed a strong showing in the first season, securing several convincing victories during the group stage. They started with a triumph over Australia, followed by a decisive win over the West Indies.
A highlight of the tournament was when Pakistan recorded a substantial 243/4 against India, subsequently restricting their rivals to 175/9.
Under the leadership of Younis Khan, the team extended their impressive form by defeating England. Their only defeat in the group stage was against South Africa.
They then rebounded with a 20-run victory to ensure their spot in the semi-finals, where they once again outperformed the West Indies.
During the final, Pakistan Champions posted 157 runs, but India successfully chased the total in 19.1 overs, winning by five wickets.
Looking ahead to Season 2, Pakistan Champions will compete against England Champions in their first match on July 18 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
The eagerly awaited match between India and Pakistan will take place on July 20 at the same venue.
