Pakistan and Bangladesh Strengthen Textile Trade Ties
A recent visit has culminated in stronger trade relations between the textile industries of Pakistan and Bangladesh, highlighted by the signing of three significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
The Pakistan Readymade Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) formalized agreements with both the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA). Simultaneously, the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA) entered into an MoU with the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh signaled a robust desire to create an MoU with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), further underscoring the growing enthusiasm for trade between the two nations. Moreover, the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) voiced intentions to explore establishing a physical presence in Pakistan.
The visit facilitated more than 250 Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions, which led to confirmed orders for yarn and fabric valued at USD 2.5 million. Contingent upon sample endorsement, sample orders approximated at USD 10 million were also initiated, suggesting considerable prospects for future commerce.
As a show of further collaboration, PRGMEA has invited textile representatives from BGMEA and BTMA to visit Pakistan soon. This invitation aims to sustain the momentum generated during this fruitful exchange and foster continuous growth in trade opportunities.
