KARACHI: The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) revealed the groups for the Over 40s T20 World Cup on Monday. The tournament is set to commence in Karachi on November 21 of this year.

The first group includes host nation Pakistan, alongside the West Indies, South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, and the UAE. The second group consists of Australia, the USA, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, and a Rest of the World team.

This competition marks the inaugural Over 40s World Cup to be contested in the T20 format, with a total of 12 countries having verified their participation.

The tournament will showcase players above the age of 40 and is anticipated to be a distinguished veterans’ event. Notable cricket personalities such as Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Kamran Akmal are expected to participate.

Pakistan has a strong track record in veterans’ cricket, securing victories in the Over 60s World Cup (Brisbane 2022), the Over 40s Global Cup (Karachi 2023), and the Over 50s World Cup (Colombo 2025).

A total of 42 games are slated to be played at different venues throughout Karachi, and all of Pakistan’s matches will be held under stadium lights.

The PVCA stated that the tournament, initially planned from December 1 to 13, had to be rescheduled because of the 35th National Games, which are scheduled to occur in Karachi from December 6 to 13.
