Nuggets, Thunder to Clash in Series Finale on Sunday

DENVER: Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray spearheaded the Denver Nuggets’ 119-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference semifinals on Thursday. This win forces a decisive Game 7.

Jokic dominated with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. Despite feeling unwell earlier in the day, Murray contributed 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, bolstering Denver’s playoff aspirations.

“Jamal is built differently,” remarked Nuggets reserve Julian Strawther, who scored all 15 of his points in the second half.

“He’s just wired in a unique way. We all know he’s among the toughest competitors in the league.”

Facing elimination, the Nuggets displayed a sense of urgency early on, securing a marginal 31-28 lead after the first quarter.

The Thunder responded in the second quarter, gaining a three-point advantage by halftime.

However, the defending champions emerged stronger after the break, outscoring the Thunder 32-21 in the third quarter and 29-25 in the fourth to secure the win at Ball Arena.

Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led his team once more with 32 points, six assists, and three rebounds but admitted Denver’s higher intensity.

“It was a must-win situation for them, and they started with notable determination,” Gilgeous-Alexander stated. “To win the next game, we must prevent that.”

The series now moves to Oklahoma City for Game 7, scheduled for Sunday.
