Dan Hardy Predicts Ngannou Victory Over Wilder in Potential Boxing Match
Former UFC personality Dan Hardy is supporting Francis Ngannou in a hypothetical boxing match against Deontay Wilder, asserting that the former MMA fighter possesses considerable boxing ability.
Wilder, a former World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight titleholder, recently issued a public challenge to Ngannou for a high-profile boxing showdown, enticing fans with the prospect of a pure power exhibition.
This proposition from Wilder followed Ngannou’s defeat to Renan Ferreira at PFL vs Bellator in February, marking his return to MMA.
Wilder, celebrated for his impressive knockout rate, has encouraged Ngannou to re-enter the boxing arena, promoting the possible fight as a test of sheer force.
However, Hardy, during an interview, cautioned Wilder regarding Ngannou, noting that the former UFC heavyweight champion has respectable boxing techniques and significant power, while ‘The Bronze Bomber’ isn’t the most polished boxer.
“I’m backing Ngannou. He’s got decent boxing skills, he’s got good boxing defense, he’s got ridiculous power in his hands,” Hardy stated.
“Deontay Wilder isn’t the cleanest of boxers. He was dangerous because of his incredible punching power and his unconventional style. He’s tall with a long reach, and he can strike with considerable force.
“But Ngannou is a different challenge altogether. I anticipate Ngannou will punch a significant hole right through Deontay Wilder.”
Francis Ngannou transitioned to boxing in October 2023 against Tyson Fury, surprisingly knocking down the WBC champion in the third round, before ultimately losing by a close decision. Subsequently, he was defeated by Anthony Joshua in March, casting doubts on his future in boxing.
