Liverpool’s Offer for Isak Rejected by Newcastle
Alexander Isak has resumed training with Newcastle United after being absent from the team’s preseason tour in Asia amid reported interest from Liverpool, according to recent reports.
Isak had been training at Real Sociedad, his former club, to recover from a minor thigh injury, which prevented him from joining Eddie Howe’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.
Last week, British media outlets stated that Newcastle turned down a formal bid from Liverpool for the forward Isak.
Newcastle reportedly values the striker at approximately £150 million, while Liverpool’s offer was said to be £110 million plus additional incentives.
Howe previously commented that while Isak is under contract, the club can only hope he remains with the team, despite not having complete control over his future.
“He remains our player with a contract,” Howe stated.
“To some extent, we influence his next steps. I’d like to think all options are still available to us. My desire is for him to stay, but that is not entirely up to me.
“We have not received an official offer for Alex from any club. I hope he stays, and we see him play again next season.”
Alexander Isak, who transferred from Real Sociedad to Newcastle for £60 million in 2022, has scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.
Isak has three years left on his contract with Newcastle, but the club has begun exploring potential replacements should he depart, though they maintain he is not for sale.
Newcastle reportedly made an €80 million ($106 million) offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, which was rejected.
