Nepra Approves Tariff Reduction
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has sanctioned a decrease of Rs1.89 in the uniform electricity tariff, effective for a three-month duration commencing in August.
As per the Nepra notification, the authority has decided to permit “negative quarterly adjustments amounting to Rs55,874 million concerning the 4th quarter of the FY 2024-25. This adjustment will be implemented over three months, from August 2025 to October 2025, at a consistent rate of negative Rs1.8881/kWh. This is applicable to all consumer categories, excluding lifeline and prepaid consumers of XWDISCOs.”
This quarterly adjustment extends to K-Electric consumers as well, with the exception of lifeline and prepaid users.
Earlier in the week, during a public hearing addressing these quarterly adjustments, Nepra indicated the possibility of a negative tariff adjustment of Rs1.80 per unit.
