Interior Minister Praises Punjab Police and CTD for Successful Operation in Mianwali

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the Punjab Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for their effective operation against terrorists in the Makarwal region of Mianwali, calling it a “noteworthy triumph” in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

In a statement released from Islamabad, the interior minister expressed high praise for the courageous members of the Punjab Police and CTD who eliminated over ten terrorists in a significant operation.

He stated that the operation was not only a tactical accomplishment but also a strong message to all anti-state elements conspiring against national stability and security.

“By sending more than 10 Khawarij terrorists to hell, the Punjab Police and CTD have displayed outstanding determination and expertise,” Naqvi commented.

He further added that such victories are vital for guaranteeing long-lasting peace in the nation and protecting the lives of innocent people.

The interior minister lauded the bravery and commitment of the officers involved, emphasizing that their prompt and decisive actions had thwarted the terrorists’ malicious intentions.

“I am extremely proud of the bravery displayed by the officers in this operation. Their efforts are truly praiseworthy,” he added.

Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s steadfast position against terrorism, assuring that all essential resources would continue to be provided to law enforcement agencies to eradicate terrorism from its roots.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to the entire team of the Punjab Police and CTD on this significant achievement,” he concluded.

Security has been heightened in Mianwali and the surrounding areas following the operation.

Officials have confirmed that intelligence-driven operations will persist to ensure the complete dismantling of terrorist networks functioning within the region.

The nation experienced a steep rise in terrorist incidents in January 2025, increasing by 42% compared to the prior month, according to data issued by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a research organization.

The data indicated that at least 74 militant attacks were documented nationwide, resulting in 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Additionally, 117 individuals sustained injuries, including 53 security forces personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.

In Punjab, two militant attacks were reported, resulting in injuries to one security official. On the final day of January, militants initiated a substantial assault on a police checkpoint in DG Khan’s Jhangi area, but security forces successfully repelled the attack without any casualties. Sindh and Islamabad each experienced one attack, neither of which resulted in fatalities.
