Musiala Provides Injury Update, Eyes 2025 Return
BERLIN: Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala has offered a positive update regarding his injury, suggesting he aims to return to action following the Club World Cup 2025 leg injury.
Musiala suffered a fibula fracture, along with a dislocated ankle, during the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final in July in Atlanta. The injury occurred after a clash with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper at the time, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 22-year-old German international is a significant player for his national team and is anticipated to play a vital role in their aspirations for the 2026 World Cup.
In a conversation with SportBild magazine, Musiala stated his intention to avoid rushing his recovery and to allocate the necessary time for healing.
While he refrained from specifying a precise date, he indicated a likely return to competitive play in 2025.
“The leg is recovering well, and the healing process is on track,” Musiala commented.
“I no longer require crutches, but I am keen to avoid pushing things too quickly. I’ll allow the appropriate time for recovery.
“I prefer not to commit to a specific date. However, considering the progress I’ve made thus far, my aim is to be back playing competitive matches for Bayern in 2025.”
Musiala, who recorded 21 goals and eight assists for Bayern last season across all competitions as the team secured the Bundesliga title, has not attributed blame to the Italian goalkeeper for the injury, acknowledging that such incidents are part of football.
He acknowledged that the initial weeks were challenging but emphasized the importance of avoiding dwelling on the situation.
“The first few weeks were mentally tough for me. However, there’s little benefit in remaining constantly frustrated by the situation,” he added.
