Pakistan’s white-ball captain and Multan Sultans’ captain, Mohammad Rizwan, addressed his comfort level with his English-speaking abilities, clarifying that his primary focus is on-field performance rather than linguistic skills.

During a press conference held in Karachi, Rizwan responded to remarks regarding his English proficiency, stating, “I lament my incomplete education, which is why I lack English skills, but I hold no shame in admitting that as Pakistan’s captain, my English is limited.”

He emphasized, “My core responsibility is to excel in cricket, not in English,” and added, “If the nation required English proficiency, I would pursue studies to become a professor and then return. However, my nation seeks my cricketing skills, not English fluency.”

Rizwan, recognized for his straightforward communication, expressed confidence in his ability to effectively convey his message, even to native English speakers.

He commented, “I believe I can adequately articulate my points to an English individual in my distinct manner, ensuring clear comprehension. The actual issue resides with those who persistently harbor dissatisfaction towards me.”

The wicketkeeper-batter called upon critics to offer valuable feedback rather than solely emphasizing shortcomings.

He stated, “While critiquing the team is acceptable, providing guidance on areas for enhancement is also essential. During the Champions Trophy, Wasim Akram shared valuable insights, and I desired further discussion, but time constraints prevented it.”

Expressing his concern regarding critics who do not propose solutions, he cautioned that if experienced players exclusively concentrate on identifying errors, younger players might develop resentment towards them in the future.

Rizwan recognized that fans are entitled to their dissatisfaction when the team underperforms. He acknowledged, “Fans possess every entitlement to express their disappointment with us due to their affection. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has significantly benefited the nation, and now is the moment to relish the league.”

Reflecting on criticism broadly, he concluded, “Throughout history, groundbreaking individuals were initially labeled as unconventional prior to gaining widespread acceptance. Those incapable of managing criticism ultimately accomplish nothing.”
