Pakistan Women’s Blind Cricket Team Gears Up for World Cup with Training Camp
LAHORE: The training camp for the Pakistan Women’s Blind Cricket team is scheduled to begin on October 25 in Mirpur, in preparation for the inaugural Women’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup 2025.
Sources indicate that the official announcement of the Pakistan Women’s Blind Cricket team will occur within the next few days. The squad will include 16 players and five team officials.
The training camp will run until November 8, after which the team is scheduled to depart for Sri Lanka on November 9.
India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the Women’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup from November 11 to 23.
A total of 15 matches, including both semi-finals and the final, are set to be played in Colombo, while nine matches are scheduled to be held in India.
The semi-finals are slated for November 22, with the final match taking place on November 23 in Colombo.
Due to the current political situation in Nepal, Pakistan’s matches have been relocated from Kathmandu, the originally planned venue.
The team will now play all its matches in Colombo, as they will not be traveling to India, the primary host for the event.
The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) reached this decision during an executive committee meeting, led by Syed Sultan Shah, the WBCC President and Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC).
The Indian Blind Cricket Association will announce the finalized match schedule at a later time.
Previously, the PBCC selection committee shortlisted 20 potential players during a Selection and Training Camp in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, held in July.
The shortlisted players comprise seven players each from the B1 and B2 categories, and six from the B3 category. The PBCC has stated that the final 16-member squad will be revealed on October 15.
