Pakistan Clinches T20I Series Victory at Home After 2021

LAHORE: Following Pakistan’s dominant 3-0 series victory over Bangladesh in the recent T20I series, Mike Hesson, the head coach for the national white-ball team, commended the young players’ performance.

The series against Bangladesh was Hesson’s initial assignment. Under his guidance, Pakistan achieved a convincing 3-0 win, marking their first series victory on home soil since December 2021.

Following Pakistan’s decisive seven-wicket victory in the final T20I, Hesson shared his reflections on social media.

In a brief online statement, Hesson expressed that his first series with the Pakistan men’s team ‘could not have been any better.’ The team challenged themselves by experimenting with various combinations, maintaining flexibility in batting, and maximizing their potential in bowling.

He further acknowledged the positive response from the young players throughout the series.

Hesson’s Statement

“My first series with the Pakistan team couldn’t have gone any better! We set out to challenge ourselves—testing different combinations, staying flexible with the batting, and pushing our limits with the ball,” Hesson posted on X.

“Really proud of how this young group responded,” he concluded.

In the series’ final match on Sunday, Mohammad Haris’s outstanding century led Pakistan to successfully chase the 197-run target, losing only three wickets and with 16 balls remaining.

Haris led the scoring for the hosts with an impressive unbeaten 107 from just 46 balls, including eight boundaries and seven sixes.

He received strong support from opener Saim Ayub, emerging player Hasan Nawaz, and captain Salman Ali Agha, who made valuable contributions of 45, 26, and 15 not out, respectively.

Abbas Afridi stood out as Pakistan’s leading bowler, securing two wickets for 26 runs in his four overs, playing a crucial role in preventing Bangladesh from surpassing the 200-run mark.
