Medical equipment valued at over Rs 10 million has vanished from a prominent government hospital in Lahore, triggering an official inquiry. Missing items include operating theatre tables, hospital beds, air conditioners, wheelchairs, and various pieces of critical furniture, all of which were part of the public healthcare infrastructure.

The Specialized Healthcare Department has issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Shabbir Hussain, holding him accountable for the missing assets. An internal three-member inquiry committee reportedly found evidence of corruption linked to the disappearance.

Hospital administrators have been instructed to recover the equipment from storage or external locations. Officials warn of disciplinary action if the items remain unaccounted for within the designated timeframe.

This incident underscores serious gaps in asset handling, internal oversight, and accountability within government-run medical facilities. The missing equipment not only represents financial loss but also diminishes the hospital’s capacity to deliver critical healthcare services.
