Mbappe Celebrates PSG’s Champions League Triumph

Kylian Mbappe, now with Real Madrid, showed his support for his former squad, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), following their dominant 5-0 victory against Inter Milan in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final.

Mbappe, who inked a five-year contract with Real Madrid last summer after his PSG contract concluded, still feels a strong connection to Paris.

The 26-year-old forward, formerly PSG’s second-highest scorer, participated in the 2020 final where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.

Although he wasn’t playing, Mbappe shared his happiness for his old teammates and the club. Immediately after the game, he posted a supportive message on Instagram:

“The big day is here, a victory that represents the club’s identity. Congratulations,” Mbappé posted.

PSG’s head coach, Luis Enrique, addressed questions about Mbappe after the significant victory. He recognized the forward’s past contributions and emphasized their respect for his choice to leave, despite hoping he would stay.

“We would have loved to have him, but we accepted his decision. A coach must instill belief in the players. We’ve demonstrated that our strength lies in the team, not individual stars. Now, we focus on the Club World Cup and strengthening our squad,” Enrique stated.

After narrowly missing out in 2020, PSG has finally secured the Champions League title, a long-held ambition of their Qatari ownership.

The French champions dramatically turned around their campaign after an initial struggle in the group stage this season.

PSG showcased a commanding performance against Inter Milan, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes through Achraf Hakimi, formerly with Inter, and 19-year-old Désiré Doué.

Doué scored again in the 63rd minute, succeeded by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 73rd and Senny Mayulu, a substitute, in the 87th, marking the largest victory margin ever witnessed in a Champions League final.

Inter Milan’s supporters attempted to encourage their team with their anthem, but the Italian team couldn’t match PSG’s intensity.

PSG maintained control through skillful passes and constant movement. Their initial goal occurred in the 12th minute when Vitinha delivered an accurate pass to Doué within the penalty area.

Later, Ousmane Dembele made a superb pass from deep within his own half, setting up Kvaratskhelia, who coolly scored past Yann Sommer.

The final goal was scored by Mayulu, who tapped in from close range following an assist by Bradley Barcola, igniting celebrations among PSG fans as the final whistle sounded.
