Manchester City Dominates Juventus in FIFA Club World Cup

ORLANDO: Manchester City showcased an exceptional performance, defeating Juventus 5-2 to secure the top position in Group G at the FIFA Club World Cup, held at Camping World Stadium on Thursday.

Jeremy Doku initiated the scoring in the ninth minute with impressive agility, delivering a remarkable curling shot into the upper corner of the net.

Juventus responded promptly, taking advantage of a rare misstep by City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, which enabled Teun Koopmeiners to convert the chance into an equalizing goal.

City regained command in the 26th minute when Juventus’s defender, Pierre Kalulu, mistakenly directed Matheus Nunes’s ground pass into his own goal.

The Premier League champions widened their advantage early in the second half when Erling Haaland, shortly after entering the game, scored from close range, marking his 300th career goal for both club and country.

City maintained their dominance, with substitute Phil Foden increasing the lead to 4-1 in the 69th minute, concluding a seamless play involving Savinho and Haaland.

Savinho then increased the advantage with a powerful shot that rebounded off the crossbar, following Haaland’s header that was initially saved.

Juventus managed a late consolation goal through Dusan Vlahovic in the 84th minute; however, it had minimal impact on the outcome as Pep Guardiola’s team maintained control throughout the match.

Manchester City concluded the group stage with a flawless record—three victories out of three—and achieved a tournament-high of 13 goals.

They are now scheduled to compete against Al Hilal in the semifinals on Monday in Orlando.

Notably, Juventus is set to clash with Real Madrid in Miami Gardens, having secured the second position in Group G.
